About the lighthouse:
Built in 1852 in Apalachicola, this now-deactivated lighthouse stands alone on an uninhabited island, withstanding for many years assaults by nature and by man. Efforts are currently underway to save and restore this 72-foot-tall grand beacon, but unfortunately, its future is still uncertain. Overall lamp height is 25".

Sandy Hook, built in 1764 by Isaac Conro, is the oldest surviving lighthouse structure in the United States; as such, it is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The octagonal structure has masonry walls that are 7 feet thick at the base and a tower that rises to a height of 85 feet. Overall lamp height is 25".
