About the lighthouse:
This octagonal tower of gray limestone was built in 1872 in Youngstown and is located at the mouth of the Niagara River, just south of Fort Niagara. In 1900, the tower was raised from 50 feet to its current 61 feet, and its light is now visible 25 miles out into Lake Ontario. Overall lamp height is 25".
