About the lighthouse:
Still standing after more than 200 years, Old Cape Henry, which was replaced by Cape Henry in 1881, stands proudly about 100 feet from its "newer" counterpart in Virginia Beach. Built in 1792, the octagonal tower stands 90 feet tall, with a 20-foot square foundation under all. Overall lamp height is 24".

The Boston Harbor Light is the oldest lighthouse in continuous service in the United States, and it is still manned today by the U.S. Coast Guard. Built in 1783 on an island in Boston Harbor, it sits on the site of the nation's first lighthouse, which was destroyed by the British in the Revolutionary War. In 1852, the present lighthouse tower was increased from 75 feet to 89 feet to make passage into Boston safer. Overall lamp height is 25".

Built on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan in 1867, Big Sable guided mariners on the most direct route to and from the Port of Chicago. In 1900, due to deterioration from the ravages of Lake Michigan, a steel sleeve was wrapped around the original structure and filled with concrete. Its black markings were added in 1989 for a further update. Overall lamp height is 25.
