About the lighthouse:
Pigeon Point Light, with its 115-foot tower, along with Point Arena Light, are the two tallest lighthouses on the Pacific Coast. Located in Northern California just south of San Francisco, Pigeon Point was built in 1872. The 1008-prism first-order Fresnel Lens was previously used in the second Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in North Carolina but was shipped west to give Pigeon Point a bright beacon that is visible 18 miles out to sea. Overall lamp height is 24".

The Boston Harbor Light is the oldest lighthouse in continuous service in the United States, and it is still manned today by the U.S. Coast Guard. Built in 1783 on an island in Boston Harbor, it sits on the site of the nation's first lighthouse, which was destroyed by the British in the Revolutionary War. In 1852, the present lighthouse tower was increased from 75 feet to 89 feet to make passage into Boston safer. Overall lamp height is 25".
