About the lighthouse:
The first steel-reinforced concrete lighthouse to be built in the United States, Point Arena was constructed in 1908, after the great earthquake of 1906, and was designed to be earthquake-proof. The 115-foot tower houses a first-order Fresnel Lens, which generates a 2 million-candlepower beacon that can be seen 21 miles out into the Pacific Ocean. Overall lamp height is 24".
