About the lighthouse:
One of only two lighthouses on Block Island, Southeast Lighthouse stands on a bluff 201 feet above sea level. This handsome 2000 to Gothic Revival structure, built in 1873, was moved back to safety in recent years from the rapidly eroding Mohegan Bluffs. Overall lamp height is 24".

Its third-order lens had to be retrieved from the ocean floor by divers, when the ship transporting it from Europe sank en route.
