About the lighthouse:
Located at the west-side entrance to Muscongus Bay on the coast of picturesque Maine, this pretty lighthouse, built in 1857, is just 38 feet tall but rises 79 feet above the Atlantic, due to its position on an ocean bluff. Its fourth-order lens provides a welcome beacon to sailors on the waters of this rocky and unforgiving coast. Overall lamp height is 24".

Sandy Hook, built in 1764 by Isaac Conro, is the oldest surviving lighthouse structure in the United States; as such, it is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The octagonal structure has masonry walls that are 7 feet thick at the base and a tower that rises to a height of 85 feet. Overall lamp height is 25".

The Boston Harbor Light is the oldest lighthouse in continuous service in the United States, and it is still manned today by the U.S. Coast Guard. Built in 1783 on an island in Boston Harbor, it sits on the site of the nation's first lighthouse, which was destroyed by the British in the Revolutionary War. In 1852, the present lighthouse tower was increased from 75 feet to 89 feet to make passage into Boston safer. Overall lamp height is 25".
