About the lighthouse:
Built in 1858 in Frankfort, Michigan, Point Betsie was the last lighthouse on the mainland to be served by a keeper. Betsie's main purpose was to mark the turning point into the Manitou Passage. The 37-foot tower is attached to the Keeper's house, which was greatly expanded in 1893. Overall lamp height is 24".

Sandy Hook, built in 1764 by Isaac Conro, is the oldest surviving lighthouse structure in the United States; as such, it is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
